AKRAD labeled tube from OLSON/AKRAD tube box.

Olson Electronics had stores throughout the country and produced a newspaper style catalog. They were not as big as Lafayette, Allied or Radio Shack, but they may have been similar in size to Burnstein-Applebee. They originated in Akron, Ohio. Thus some of their parts were labeled 'AKRAD', for Akron Radio. As a matter of fact, some tubes found in the Olson box to your left were so labeled. Tube writing was green. Date code is w/yy. No RETMA code is shown, but most of these tubes are USA. The box to your right, SHIELD came in later years. Tube writing was usually yellow and most of these tubes came from Japan.
