Tubes are no longer tubes. Tubes are now Vacuum Electron Devices or VEDs.
OK! I can live with that.
Enjoy my VED list and the VED
boxes plus all the other stuff.
The tubes are presented in a unique format. The brand, status, condition of the writing, country of origin, EIA manufacuter and date codes are shown. Additionally, the condition of the box and a link to a picture of the box style is given for all New/NOS tubes. And YES, you can choose the specific tube you want, knowing it's condition beforehand. This is especially useful to collectors. All that, and the prices ain't bad either! Please be very specific when ordering to be sure we send the correct tubes. Other parts and items are presented similarly.
All tubes have been checked on a mutual conductance or dynamic conductance tester. In most cases, on both. They are guaranteed for 95 days from the invoice date. The warranty is limited to like replacement (if in stock) or refund (our choice). This applies to all items. We are constantly adding to our stock, but everything is subject to prior sale. First order, first served.
I've always hated the phrase 'Prices subject to change without notice". You won't find that here. These prices are fixed. The only change will be if the price goes down between the time you order and we ship your stuff. You pay the lower price. If the price goes up, you still pay the lower posted price. That way, if you quote a price for resale, you don't have to change. My only caveat is if it's gone, it's gone. We do not order.
The tubes are in numeric-alpha order regardless of function. We think you'll find a few surprises in the list. Hint: Use your browser 'FIND' function to jump right to the tube you want. Or just browse and enjoy!
Most descriptions are self-explanatory, but here's a clarification of a few codes:
FYI. We are a small part-time business selling excess stock from other small or closed service shops. We do not order. That's how our prices are so low. All that we have is shown on the pages. If it's not shown in the quantity you need, we don't have it.
We have expanded an existing feature. Tubes for which we have an exact equivalent are now listed. You will be directed to the equivalent. This makes a great cross reference. I have not tried to make it a total cross, only the tubes that we have are listed.
We also sometimes make a 'try' recommendation. Remember; crosses are not always in both directions. For instance: I would not hesitate to use a 6AQ5/A where I needed a 6005 (except maybe in aviation).
However, there are many that shouldn't be back crossed in any application. For the most part, you can trust my recommendations. But check the specs anyway!
'use' = you can substitute with confidence.
'see' = I have confidence it will work OK (probably have done it), but nothing is positive. i.e. Look up the specs. If you think it'll work, I do too.
'try' is similar to 'see', but not quite as much confidence. Again check the specs. If you think it'll work in your application, I may not agree. On the other hand, vice versa. Seriously, it should work. Otherwise, I wouldn't have listed it.
Another note: Many 'professional' cross references suggest indirectly heated cathode replacements for directly heated (and vice-versa) among the high voltage rectifiers and the '5xx' series of rectifier tubes. This may sometimes work, but is generally not a
good practice unless the manufacturer has made it a multi-type (example: GE's 3DC3/3CU3A). Apparently they made concessions in the heater design to accomodate both types. Normally, the equipment was designed to use one or the other. I have tried to avoid
those 'recommendations' and when appropriate suggested a cross with the correct cathode type.
THE DISCLAIMERS: Pax-Comm makes no gaurantee that suggested crosses will work in your application. Use only original types in Aviation or other safety critical applications.
C'mon now, we're all pros. If you don't know when and how to make subs, you shouldn't be here.
